After NEET results are declared, seats are allocated through two parallel counselling streams — central (MCC) and state (CEE Kerala). Understanding which seats fall under which authority determines where and how you apply.

In Kerala CEE MBBS counselling, every seat is tagged with a single category code — your community/reservation category. There is no gender split, unlike Telangana. Understanding these codes — what they mean and which seats they unlock — is critical for effective choice-filling. Below is a complete reference for all category codes.
Open to all eligible candidates regardless of community. The most competitive category — seats filled purely on NEET merit, at government fees in govt. colleges and General (Merit) fees in private colleges.
Reserved seats for candidates from economically weaker sections of forward communities, per the 10% EWS reservation. EW candidates are also automatically eligible for GN (State Merit) seats if their rank qualifies.
Reserved seats for the Ezhava community, the largest single SEBC block at 9% of total seats. EZ candidates are also automatically eligible for GN seats if their rank qualifies.
Reserved seats for the Muslim community, 8% of total seats. MU candidates are also automatically eligible for GN seats if their rank qualifies.
Reserved seats for Other Backward Hindu communities notified under Kerala's SEBC list, 3% of total seats.
Reserved seats for Latin Catholic and Anglo-Indian communities, 3% of total seats.
Reserved seats for the traditional fishing community Dheevara, 2% of total seats.
Reserved seats for the Viswakarma community, 2% of total seats.
Reserved seats for the Kusavan community, 1% of total seats — one of the smallest reservation blocks, which can mean comparatively relaxed cutoffs in some colleges.
Reserved seats for Other Backward Christian communities notified under Kerala's SEBC list, 1% of total seats.

Government quota and community-reservation seats reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, 8% of total seats — a single combined SC block, unlike Telangana's SC1/SC2/SC3 split.
Reserved seats for Scheduled Tribe candidates, 2% of total seats. ST seats typically see the most relaxed cutoffs of any reserved category.
Community seats at the 14 minority self-financing colleges — MM at the 7 Muslim-minority colleges and AC at the 7 Christian-minority colleges. In most of them this is half of all seats. Filled by KEAM rank among candidates of that community, whatever their reservation category.
Seats reserved for candidates with a qualifying disability, at government colleges. In 2026 they went to candidates of every community, often at much higher ranks than other seats.
About 15% of private-college seats, at the highest fee. NR seats exist at every private college; NC and NM are NRI seats set aside for the Christian or Muslim minority community at some minority colleges. In 2026 they were first allotted in Phase 2.
