In Telangana KNRUHS MBBS counselling, every seat is tagged with a category code plus gender. Your eligibility depends on your caste certificate and gender, since Telangana runs a 33% horizontal women's reservation within every category. Understanding these codes — what they mean and which seats they unlock — is critical for effective choice-filling. Below is a complete reference for all category codes.
Open to all eligible candidates regardless of caste or community. The most competitive category — seats filled purely on NEET merit within CQ (government-regulated fees) and MQ (private, management-set fees) tiers.
Reserved seats for Telangana Backward Class Group A candidates, in both CQ and MQ tiers. BC-A candidates are also automatically eligible for OC seats of the same gender if their rank qualifies.
Reserved seats for Telangana Backward Class Group B candidates. Like all BC groups, BC-B candidates can also compete for OC seats within the same gender.
Reserved seats for Telangana Backward Class Group C candidates. This is a smaller applicant pool than BC-A/B/D/E, which can mean comparatively relaxed cutoffs in some colleges.
Reserved seats for Telangana Backward Class Group D candidates, across CQ and MQ tiers.
Reserved seats for Telangana Backward Class Group E candidates, across CQ and MQ tiers.
Government quota seats reserved for Scheduled Caste Group I candidates. Telangana splits the SC reservation into three groups (I, II, III) rather than a single SC block.
Government quota seats reserved for Scheduled Caste Group II candidates.
Government quota seats reserved for Scheduled Caste Group III candidates.
Government quota seats reserved for Scheduled Tribe candidates. ST seats typically see the most relaxed cutoffs of any reserved category.
